Air Berlin is the 3rd largest low-cost airline in Europe. Established in 1978, as a traditional airline, in 2002 they launched their 'City Shuttle' product and entered the budget airline market. This product was rebranded 'Euro Shuttle' in 2005. Unlike many airlines following the low-cost model, Air Berlin serves complementary food, drinks and newspapers on all flights. In 2008 the airline carried 28.6 million passengers.
