Following the cancelation of flights to Israel because of safety and security concerns, C.A.L. Cargo Airlines, an all-cargo airline, announced increase in flights to and from Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv in order to fill the gap, created by European and U.S. airlines.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said last week it had told US carriers that they were prohibited from flying to or from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv for up to 24 hours.
In a statement, the agency said its notice was issued in response to a rocket strike on Tuesday that landed about a mile from the airport. The text of the FAA notice cited "the potentially hazardous situation created by the armed conflict in Israel and Gaza" in prohibiting the flights by US carriers. C.A.L. Cargo Air Lines Ltd., a boutique air cargo company, provides air cargo services worldwide.
The company carries various types of cargo, exporting from Israel fresh agricultural produce and industrial materials, and importing heavy machinery, automobiles, sensitive and sophisticated industrial equipment, livestock, and hazardous materials from all over the world.
