A press release in Tanzania issued by Mr Geoffrey Tengeneza, the Communications Officer of the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), noted that EL AL Israel Airlines, will operate direct weekly flight between Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) and Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) effective next April (2014).
From April 2014, El Al Israel airlines will be running four flights each month (once a week) in April, May, June, July, August, September and December between Tel-Aviv and Kilimanjaro.
The relaese noted that the Northern Zone Tourism Circuit will be receiving at least 150 leisure travelers aboard direct flights from Israel every week during peak season as Israel braces to send here over 6000 tourists every year.
Ms Ronit Hershkovitz Managing Director of the 'Safari Company,' of Tel-Aviv, the organizers of the Israel-Tanzania tourism- oriented flights noted that in addition to bringing tourists to KIA the airlines intend to pick Tanzanians heading for their pilgrimage from Kilimanjaro to Jerusalem and that direct flights between the two destinations take only 5 hours.
