An El Al Israel Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft, flight 353, from Tel Aviv to Munich was forced to make an emergency landing in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia on Thursday after a 30-year-old passenger of German nationality began attacking crew members and threatening other travelers.

The captain of the flight decided to land at Sofia to deal with the violent passenger. After landing, the passenger was taken off the plane and transferred to a local police station. El Al filed an official complaint against the passenger upon landing in Sofia and the plane was then allowed to continue on to Munich.
