The board of Directors of El Al, Israel Airlines Ltd., announced it has unanimously appointed VP trade and aviation relations David Maimon as new CEO to succeed Elyezer Shkedy. Maimon will take up his new post on March 20.

Maimon has been appointed Vice President Commercial & Industry Affairs of EL AL in 2010. Since 2005, he served as Vice President Customer Service. Prior to this position, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Servicemen's Welfare Association and Vice President of Human Resources at Tevel Telecom..
 

Maimon holds a bachelor degree in political science from Bar-Ilan University and a master's degree in business administration from Derby University. He is a colonel (res.) in the IDF, where his last command was the induction center. He retired from the IDF in 2000.
