Yisrael Katz, Minister of Transportation and Intelligence has issued an order designating El Al Israel Airlines the right to operate regular flights to Tbilisi and Batumi, Georgia.

 

El Al is the third Israeli airlines to operate on the route. In 2012 Georgia and Israel signed a new air service agreement. The agreement allows the two sides to operate 10 weekly flights.

 

The agreement significantly simplifies regulations within the civil aviation sectors of the two countries. According to the representatives of El Al, preparatory works for entering Georgian aviation market are already accomplished and consultations on technical and procedural issues are currently underway. Georgian Civil Aviation Agency confirmed its readiness to work closely with this certain airline as well as the aviation authorities of Israel.
 

According to preliminary information, El Al Israel Airlines shall launch direct flights from Tel Aviv to Tbilisi and Batumi from the summer, 2016. Tel Aviv - Tbilisi direct flight will operate once a week, while there will be 2 direct flights in Tel Aviv – Batumi. El Al will operate Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737-900 type aircrafts.
