According to figures published by the Israel Airports Authority (IAA), during Operation Protective Edge in the Gaza strip, El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. flew 3.6% more passengers, to 492,300.

 

Arkia Israeli Airlines, saw the number of passenger it carried grow by almost 8% to 90,200 and Israir Airlines Ltd. enjoyed a 9% rise in passengers to 39,200.

 

It is interesting to note that foreign carriers reported double-digit drops in the number of passengers they flew during the month of July compared with the parallel month last year.

 

The IAA noted that Germany’s Lufthansa flew 28,700 passengers in and out of Ben-Gurion airport in July, a drop of 14.7% from a year earlier. Swiss’s passenger traffic fell 20.3% to 19,500 and Air France took 25,000, a drop of 23%, according to the IAA figures.
