Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz announced his decision to appoint Joel Feldschuh as head of Israel's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), who will replace Giora Romm at the end of October.

Romm held the post for the past five-and-a-half years. During his term in office, Romm has revolutionized the Civil Aviation Authority, bringing Israel to one of the most advanced places in the world in this sector.

Under Romm’s leadership, the Civil Aviation Authority drafted the open skies agreement with the European Union, and also treated serious problems uncovered by national and international aviation assessors. Today, Ben Gurion Airport is found on the International Civil Aviation Organization’s list of top airports in the world.
