Lufthansa Technik a subsidiary of Lufthansa AG, will help Israir Airlines and Tourism Ltd. to establish center for routine plane maintenance.

The Lufthansa Technik Group, is one of the leading manufacturer-independent providers of technical services for the aviation industry. Its portfolio encompasses the entire spectrum of services for commercial aircraft: maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and conversion, engines and components.

Under the recently signed cooperation agreement, Lufthansa Technik will train Israir technical teams, after which they will maintain the carrier's two Airbus A320s. Israir will continue to carry out maintenance of its own ATR 72 turboprop planes. When completed, Israir will stop buying plane maintenance services from El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. 

In addition to maintenance, the contract also includes engineering services as well as Total Component Support TCS® for the repair of components and access to the extensive component pool. 

Israir Airlines operates a fleet of two Airbus A320 aircraft with a third one in production as well as two ATR-72-500. Israir Airlines & Tourism is a central part of the IDB Tourism Group, Israel's largest and leading tourism company. Israir Aviation & Tourism operates domestic flights to Eilat and scheduled flights to various overseas destinations.
