At the opening of IMTM - International Mediterranean Tourism Market last week, SAS, Scandinavia's leading airline, announced its plans to add a fourth weekly flight between Tel Aviv and Copenhagen this summer.

The company noted that it will use Airbus A319s or Airbus A321s in the usual three-class version on the route. Scandinavia Airlines resumed last year its scheduled flights between Israel and Scandinavia, after a ten-year break. The Copenhagen-Tel Aviv route was reopened last June with a weekly flight.

During peak seasons SAS operated two weekly flights between Israel and Denmark, on Monday and Thursday. In November last SAS increased its flights to three a week, including follow-on flights from Copenhagen to other destinations in Scandinavia, the Baltic states, the Far East, and North America.

SAS Israel Manager Yaki Cohen noted that "Expanding flights to additional countries and increasing the frequency and flight schedule will provide Israeli passengers with easier and more convenient access to many destinations across Scandinavia".

Cohen also noted that SAS will in 2013 launch 45 new routes. This means that SAS will offer direct flights to exciting new destinations from all of the main airports.

In addition to these new routes, SAS will also increase the frequency of current flights on a number of domestic and European routes. 9 out of 45 routes will be operated all year round, while 29 of them will be offered during the summer season and 7 – during the winter season.
