Wizz Air Hungary Airlines Ltd. (IATA code: W6, ICAO code: WZZ) a Hungarian low-cost airline (LCC) has inaugurated its new Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport route to Sofia.

The new route between Israel and the Bulgarian capital now operates three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The route is operated on one of the airline’s new Airbus A320 aircraft.

Wizz Air which has its head office on the property of Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport in Budapest, has the largest aircraft fleet of all the Hungarian airlines.

Wizz Air corporate communications director Daniel de Carvalho said, "Wizz Air is committed to providing low cost air routes to Israeli passengers and their visitors, by offering 9 routes in just over one year since entering the Israeli market. Our team plans on expanding on this venture, with more routes between Tel Aviv and European destinations in the next couple of months.”

In addition to the Sofia flights, Wizz Air already operates low-cost flights from Tel Aviv to Budapest in Hungary, Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca in Romania, Vilnius in Lithuania, and Warsaw and Katowice in Poland, and Prague in the Czech Republic.

The airline has seen rapid growth since its 2004 inception, and is Central Europe's largest LCC. Wizz Air operates on over 150 routes across Europe, using predominantly secondary airports, and the carrier is continuously looking at opportunities to expand its network of destinations and provide low-cost air transport to and from Central and Eastern Europe.
