European low-cost airline easyJet has announced it will close its route from Tel Aviv to Rome in March 2016, as it draws down its operations in the Italian capital's Fiumicino airport.

easyJet is closing down its base in Rome and transferring the majority of its operations to other airports in Italy, like Napoli and Milan.

This decision affects a number of routes departing from this destination, including the line to Israel.

On the other hand, the British budget carrier opened a new line from Tel Aviv to Amsterdam, with 4 weekly flights (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday).Excluding the soon-to-be-canceled Rome route, easyJet flies to 9 different European destinations from Israel, including Berlin, Geneva, Paris, and London's Luton and Gatwick.

EasyJet, one of Europe's fastest growing airlines, carried over 50 million passengers last year and serves more of Europe's top 100 routes than any other airline.
