Israel Airports Authority plans to offer personal luggage storage lockers at Ben-Gurion Airport

The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) issued a bid last weekend for the construction of a luggage storage facility at Ben-Gurion Airport.

The new facility will, according to the bid, allow passengers to store their suitcases, handbags and prams in secured lockers for a limited period of time and pay with credit cards or cash.

According to the plan, for security reasons the lockers won't be installed in the main passenger terminal, Terminal 3, but in an isolated area near the parking lots. The area will be secured with around-the-clock camera surveillance. According to the terms and conditions of the bid, the facility will include three types of lockers: Large ones for suitcases, medium-sized ones for handbags and soldiers' bags, and small compartments for backpacks, coats and different items.

Each compartment will include a power outlet for charging cell phones, tablets and laptops. A central payment unit will be located nearby, and the lockers' doors will be secured against burglaries and vandalism with an electronic lock using a touch screen.
