The number of people departing the airport increased by 30% over last year's holiday season

The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) reported that a record number of Israelis traveled abroad for Passover this year - 1.3 million passengers departed on more than 8,200 flights from Ben Gurion International Airport, 30% more than last Passover.

 

The IAA noted that Turkey was the top destination, with 107,464 passengers, of whom 73,595 flew to Istanbul, and 33,812 flew to the resorts at Antalya. The US was in second place, with 82,538 passengers; followed by Italy, with 68,007 passengers; Germany, with 67,587 passengers; and France, with 65,590 passengers.

 

El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. carried the most holiday passengers, 374,371 people; followed by Turkish Airlines, with 51,627 passengers; Arkia Airlines Ltd., with 32,515 passengers, and low-cost carrier EasyJet, with 23,157 passengers. Aeroflot was in fifth place.
