Arkia Israel Airline plans to offer holiday packages to southern Jordanian resort city of Aqaba.

The airline will operate flights on Fridays and Mondays, which will leave from Haifa airport and Ben-Gurion Airport. The packages will include three-night weekends and four nights during weekdays.
 
Arkia CEO Gadi Tepper confirmed last week that the carrier has already received permission from the Israel Airports Authority for the route and is waiting for approval of security arrangements. He noted that if security arrangements are approved, Arkia plans to start flying next month.
 
It has been reported that Arkia has already signed holiday contracts with a number of hotels in Aqaba, including four and five-star deluxe accommodations. Vacation-packages will cost $299 (about NIS 1,100) for a three-night weekend, Including return flights and bed and breakfast in a four-star hotel.
 
Luxury hotels such as Kempinski, intercontinental, Mצvenpick and Radisson will cost around $499 (NIS 1,840).
 
Arkia flies regularly scheduled flights to the Jordanian capital of Amman.
