According to Israel's Civil Aviation Authority, licenses for the airport have been granted to 56 foreign airlines
Israel's Civil Aviation Authority (ICCA) issued a press release last week expecting 15% more flights to and from Israel this winter season compared with the corresponding period last year. The ICCA winter season began on October 28 and will end on March 31 2013.
The head of the Israel Civil Aviation Authority, Giora Rom noted that licenses have been granted to 56 foreign airlines to land and take off from Ben Gurion International Airport. During the present winter season 656 scheduled flights are expected compared with 569 in the same period last year.
According to the ICCA the number of scheduled flights by foreign carriers to and from Ben Gurion International Airport will rise this winter by 19% compared with the corresponding period last year. The number of scheduled flights operated by Israel's three carriers El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. Arkia Airlines Ltd., and Israir Airlines and Tourism Ltd. will increase by 9%.
