Ben-Gurion Int'l Airport: excessive water levels found in jet fuel

Israel Airports Authority warned last week foreign airlines that contamination discovered in the airport jet fuel was likely to cause delays on long-haul flights departing from Ben-Gurion International Airport.

According to media reports, excessive water levels found in the jet fuel were blamed for the delays. The reports noted that an inspection of the energy company's fuel reserves held last Sunday discovered that the water separation buffer was too low for use.

The finding meant the likelihood of a shortage in airline jet fuel, which could cause that long-haul flights would have to make an extra stop on the way to their final destinations in order to add fuel.

Outbound flights headed for destinations such as the United States and east Asia were likely to be affected by the contaminated jet fuel, supplied by the Paz Aviation Assets company.
