The Boeing Company marked last week 60 years of cooperation with the state of Israel. The event was held in the presence of Mr. James F. Albaugh, Executive Vice President, The Boeing Company President and Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Defense Systems, Mr. David Ivry, President of Boeing Israel, Mr. Haim Romano, El Al's President & CEO,Continental Airlines senior country director, Mr. Avi Friedman, Ministry of Defense Managing Director, Mr. Pinchas Buchris, and heads of Israel's aviation & security administration.
Albaugh noted that the Boeing Company has many years of commitment to the well being of the state of Israel and celebrates, together with the state of Israel, 60 years of successful cooperation.
Albaugh also noted the many years of successful cooperation with El Al Israel's Airlines, "Boeing's loyal partner", which achieved world record in crossing the Atlantic Ocean with a twin engine aircraft.
At the end of the event the Boeing Company honored Lou Lenart, the first commander of the Israeli Airforce.
Lou Lenart ,87,came to Israel in 1948 as a decorated US Air Force pilot, with a record of dozens of flights and attacks against Japanese forces. Lenart, who had the most extensive operational flying experience in the new Israeli air force, led a group of four pilots. The other three were Ezer Weizmann, Mudy Alon and Eddie Cohen.
