Lufthansa Cargo appointed the Israeli airline C.A.L. cargo airlines as its general cargo sales provide (GSA) for cargo destined from Israel to European destinations.
The agreement, which came into force on June 1st, made C.A.L fully responsible for marketing Austrian Airlines's and Lufthansa's freight capacity from Israel to Europe.
In a statement issued in Israel, the company noted that Lufthansa cargo Israel will continue handling temperature controlled cargo and will be responsible for the company's policy concerning cargo handling.
Carsten Wirths, Lufthansa Cargo Vice President Area Management Europe and Africa, noted that the agreement will enable Lufthansa cargo to widen its customer base in Israel. Wirths added, that the new joint venture will allow Lufthansa cargo offer a wider range of its products to local exporters.
Lufthansa cargo, which ranks among the world´s leading cargo carriers, offers two daily flights from Israel to Frankfurt and five weekly flights from Tel Aviv to Munich. In addition, Austrian Airlines offers two daily flights from Tel Aviv to Vienna.
Yarom Oren, CEO of C.A.L., noted that the new cooperation agreement the Israeli exporting community will have a wider range of competitive and highly efficient services to Europe.
C.A.L. Cargo Airlines is a privately held company headquartered in Tel-Aviv. C.A.L. carries approximately 80,000 tons of cargo annually, such as heavy and over size machinery, pharmaceutical and temp sensitive products, agriculture produce, industrial materials, automobiles, sensitive and sophisticated industrial and scientific equipment, livestock and hazardous materials (CAO) from all over the world.
