The Cabinet approved moving forward on the project to evacuate Dov Hoz Airport in northern Tel Aviv.
The purpose of the decision is to build thousands of residential units on the site (including small apartments), as well as – inter alia – hotels and public structures.
To this end, the Cabinet decided to establish a team chaired by Prime Minister's Office Director-General Harel Locker, and with the participation of the relevant ministries, to formulate an operative plan, including sources of financing, for the evacuation of the airport.
The team will also locate alternative sites to which Dov Hoz's civil aviation activities will be transferred; the base and the airport's military activities will be evacuated afterward.
