this is a serious security shortcoming by the security staff in Boryspil International Airport, Ukraine who were supposed to check the item before loading
Israeli customs' spokesman informed last week that a passenger flying into Ben-Gurion International Airport on board Ukrainian airline Aerosvit, was caught with a fake M16 rifle as he passed through customs.
The report noted that upon scanning his bag, the customs officers discovered the rifle, which was virtually identical to a real weapon.
A security official at the Ben-Gurion International Airport called this a serious security shortcoming by the security staff in Boryspil International Airport, Ukraine who were supposed to check the item before loading.
"It's not clear how they let him take it on the plane," said the source.
The Customs directorate said the rifle had been confiscated because it could be used to commit a crime.
