DHL, a world leading express transport operator, will soon operate its own daily freighter from Brussels via Bergmo (Italy) to Israel.

The five flights per week will provide as from October a link to DHL international network, shortening transit time to and from Israel.

In a statement the company said that the new service will not only shorten transit time but also allow the company to offer new range of express services to the Israeli trading community.

The new freighter, a Boing 757, will directly connect Israel to DHL's main distribution hubs in Europe, thus saving almost one day in the distribution chain.. Bergmo and Brussels are two of DHL's European multihub system which consists of seven hubs, each of which can provide a back up service in case the others close down due to climatic and/or labour conditions.

The new aircraft is part of DHL European Air Transport which is based in Brussels, Belgium and provides capacity for DHL's European network as well as longhaul services to the Middle East and Africa, using Boeing 757SF/PF and Airbus A300B4 aircraft.
