Delta Air Lines will suspend its Atlanta-Tel Aviv routes for the winter as it adjusts to high fuel costs and declines in demand by cutting flight capacity. Atlanta-based Delta plans to suspend its Atlanta-Tel Aviv route August 31 and Tel Aviv – Atlanta September1, 2011.
 
The airline plans to resume both routes by next summer (Service currently scheduled to resume from 25MAR12). The Atlanta-Tel Aviv route currently operates four times a week on board Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
 
The moves are part of Delta's plan to cut trans-Atlantic flight capacity by 10% to 12% later this year, as it announced last month. The airline noted that passengers will be able to fly on the daily Tel Aviv – New York to JFK or bySkyteam partners Air France or KLM  via Paris or Amsterdam.
