On flights from North America and Far East and South Africa the surcharge will go down by US$0.08 to US$1.56 per kilo
 
El Al Cargo has announced a reduction to its fuel surcharge, effective August 18, 2008.
 
The company said that the fuel surcharge reduction follows a second consecutive week that the fuel price was falling. According to the company the new fuel schedule will be as follow: On flights from Europe to Israel the surcharge will go down by €0.05, to €1.20 per kilo. On flights from North America and Far East and South Africa the surcharge will go down by US$0.08 to US$1.56 per kilo.
 
For cargo exported from Israel to Europe the surcharge will be US$1.25 per kilo and for cargo exported to North America and Far East the surcharge will US$1.57 per kilo. All the rates are calculated per kg on the actual weight.
 
The company has maintained that high fuel prices remain a very real challenge for the company. However, recent weeks have seen some relief with prices falling, triggering a decrease in fuel surcharge.
