El Al Israel Airlines Ltd signed last Sunday an extended code-sharing agreement with S7 Airlines (formerly
Siberia Airlines) (Iata-Code: S7) expanding cooperation between the two carriers.
 
As a result, El Al will connect with S7 Airlines on nine additional locations in the far eastern area of Russia. Kazan, Rostov-on-Don, Omsk, Sochi, Chelyabinsk, Samara, Krasnoyarsk, Perm Nizhny Novgorod.
 
Eliezer Shkedi, chairman of El Al, said that the expansion of the code-sharing agreement would help improve service for Israelis in both directions, and to other locations in Asia. S7 Airlines is the largest Russian domestic air carrier. S7 operates the youngest fleet in Russia with the average aircraft age of 8 years. All flights are served with Airbus and Boeing aircraft only.
 
S7 with its operating airline subsidiary Globus has 40 aircraft in its fleet: 19 Airbus A319s, nine Airbus A320s, two Airbus A310s, two long-haul Boeing 767-300s, four Boeing 737-400s and four Boeing 737-800s.Its main base Moscow Domodedovo is the capital's most modern airport. Its secondary hubs are Novosibirsk and Irkutsk.
