The cargo management decided to apply the new surcharge due to heavy demand for cargo shipped from the Far East
El Al Israel Airlines Ltd informed its clients last week, it would apply peak season surcharge on its Asia-to- Israel flights, effective from 22 Oct.
In a detailed announcement, the airline noted that its cargo management decided to apply the new surcharge due to heavy demand for cargo shipped from the Far East.
The new US$0.10 per kilo peak season surcharge will apply to all cargo tendered from Far East destinations to Israel and will not apply on flights from India.
Last year, El Al stopped its full cargo service from the Far East which was operated by the company's two old 747 freighters, thus reducing total capacity offered to the Israeli trading community.
