El Al Israel Airlines said last week it had signed an agreement with Boeing for the purchase of two 777-200 ER (extended range) passenger jets for about USD$ 246 million.
Each plane will cost $117-123 million (2005 prices), depending on the accessories and equipment installed on the planes to meet El Al’s specifications. El Al expects to take delivery of the long-range wide-body jets in 2007.
El Al operates an all-Boeing fleet of 34 aircraft, four of them leased. The new 777-200 ER planes will fly, according to El Al's statement routes from Tel Aviv to the US and Asia.
