Israel's El Al signed last week a code share agreement with Russian airline S7 Siberian Airlines. According to El Al, the agreement will ease travel between Tel Aviv and Novosibirsk and is part of a widespread initiative of establishing code shares to select Russian destinations.

 

The move is part of an El Al initiative to establish code shares to selected Russian destinations. S7 Airlines ranks second in Russian international flights market and first in the domestic market. The airline carried 5.6 million of passengers in 2009, including 3.5 million passengers on flights in Russia.
 
S7 Airlines has the largest domestic flight network in Russia, hubbing out of Moscow, Novosibirsk and Irkutsk.S7 Airlines also makes regular flightsto Europe, Middle East, Southern Asia and Asian Pacific destinations.
 
S7 is Russia's biggest domestic air carrier, and is the only Russian airline permitted to run regular flights between Moscow and Tbilisi. It is the first carrier in Russia to convert to an all Western-built Airbus and Boeing fleet and the first to adopt full electronic ticketing and on-line reservations and sales.
 
It holds the internationally recognised IOSA (International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit) certification, renewed in October 2008. Its fleet, decorated in a distinctive bright green livery, includes 28 Airbus A320 family types, two Airbus A310s, two Boeing 767s, four Boeing 737-400s and four Boeing 737-800s, with an average age of nine years.
