The company invited the company's Cairo representative Mr. Salah Nabhan to Tel Aviv in order to discuss the reduction of his annual fees at Cairo
Aviation sources in Israel informed PORT2PORT last week that El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. had again embarked upon comprehensive commercial examination of the company's flights from Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) to Cairo International Airport (CAI).
Within the framework of the examination the company invited the company's Cairo representative Mr. Salah Nabhan to discuss the reduction of his annual fees at Cairo. It is understood that El Al made it clear that in case Nabhan will not accept fee reduction, El Al would have no alternative but to discontinue flights to Cairo.
El Al used to operate daily flights between Cairo and Tel Aviv, however its operation was reduced to twice a week as tourist traffic on the route dropped, making it a line used mainly by diplomats.
El Al announced last year that it would stop flying to Cairo, due to high security costs, forcing the Israeli government to step in, offering to shoulder a majority of those costs.
