Haim Romano, the deputy CEO and head of the customer service division at Partner Communications, will be appointed CEO of national air carrier El Al.
Romano joined Partner in 1998 at its inception as vice president for human resources, after which he headed the customer service division. At the beginning of 2004, he was appointed deputy CEO, and took a short leave to study at Harvard University.
Before joining Partner, 1996-1998, Romano headed the human resources division of the Israeli secret service.
Romano will replace Amos Shapira at El Al. After three years on the job, Shapira announced his resignation just two weeks after control of the airline was transfered from the state to the Borovich family's Knafaim group in December 2004.
