Israel Airport Authority published last week its April 2010 report of cargo movements through Ben Gurion International Airport, indicating sharp increase in cargo movements. During April, the airport handled 23,760 tons of cargo, an increase of 13.18% compared to April 2009 during which the airport handled 20,992 tons.
The report noted that total cargo movements during January to April 2010 was 105,726 tons up 16.18% compared to the corresponding period last year (90,999 tons). El Al handled during April 4,305 tons of freight up 18.8% compared to the corresponding periodlast year – 3,624 tons. El Al holds 37.4% market share in freight moving on passenger flights to and from Israel.
During January to April 2010 El Al handled 18,140 tons, up 25.9% compared to the corresponding period in 2009.
C.A.L handled 4,575 tons in April, a drop of 3.6% compared to the parallel period. The company holds 37% market share of the Israeli airfreight market. During January – April 2010 C.A.L handled 21,016 tons, up 11.36% compared to the parallel.
During the same period El Al handled on board its freighters 16,414 tons, down 6% compared to the parallel period in 2010.
