The International Civil Aviation Organization blamed Paz Aviation Assets Company Ltd. for the contaminated jet fuel which grounded flights at Ben Gurion Airport for several days in May
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) issued last week its special report concerning the jet fuel contamination at Ben Gurion International Airport.
ICAO blamed Paz Aviation Assets Company Ltd. for the contaminated jet fuel which grounded flights at Ben Gurion Airport for several days in May.
According to the report, a delegation from the ICAO has visited Israel twice since the contaminated fuel was traced and conducted its own investigations in addition to those by the Ministries of Transport and National Infrastructures.
The ICAO noted that the decision to suspend all flights at Ben Gurion International Airport as soon as jet fuel contamination was suspected was the right thing to do.
Israel's air traffic plunged into chaos for two days due to the crisis. The damage caused by the contaminated fuel to airlines amounted to millions of shekels as hundreds of thousands of passengers found themselves without flights.
Paz has denied the allegations claiming that it has completely different findings. In a report to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, Paz noted that: "The company has laboratory results that contradict the IATA / ICAO team's results.
According to the IATA / ICAO investigation, there are findings that indicate contamination in the jet fuel, which apparently originated in the jet fuel gas that arrived from the Ashdod Oil Refinery belonging to Paz Aviation Services and Assets, a Paz subsidiary.
