According to figures released last week by the Israel Airports Authority, the number of international passengers - Israelis and foreigners - traveling through Ben-Gurion International Airport in 2006 was up 3.6% to 8.8 million.
Gabi Ophir, director general of the Israel Airports Authority, said in a press release that the trend of passenger growth will continue throughout 2007.
The Airports Authority's figues also show that in 2006 the number of aircraft taking off and landing at Ben-Gurion Airport for international flights was up 8.8%, reaching 67,766 flights.
El Al, according to the statistics, flew 40.6% of these flights, Lufthansa 4.16%, Continental 3.96%, Israir 3.85% and Arkia 3.83%.
