Israel Civil Aviation Authority rejected Jordanian proposal to increase number of seats on TLV – Amm

In a letter to its Jordanian counterpart, ICCA's Director claims Royal Jordanian's fares are not "reasonable".

Giora Romm, Director of Israel Civil Aviation Authority (ICCA) rejected last week an offer put forward by the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission to increase the number of seats on the Tel Aviv – Amman route.

In a letter to Capt. Mohammad Amin Al-Quran, Chief Commissioner/CEO of the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Romm noted that the increase in seats number was subject to an agreement due to be finalized between Royal Jordanian Airlines and Israel's Israir.

Romm noted that ICCA was well aware that an agreement between the two airlines had been reached. However, it has not been implemented.

He added that once the bilateral agreement is implemented, the market share of Israir will be 16%, well below the market share of Royal Jordanian Airlines.

Romm emphasized that it had been mutually understood that air fares between the two countries would be reasonable, Nevertheless the ICCA feels that air fares offered by Royal Jordanian Airlines are unreasonable.
