Israel and Greece signed renewed aviation agreement

The new agreement will enable airlines from the two countries to operate up to 28 scheduled passenger flights and 14 cargo flights a week between Tel Aviv and Athens
 
The Ministries of Transport of Israel and Greece signed last week a new aviation agreement which will enable each country to appoint two airlines to operate scheduled flights on routes between Israel and Greece.
 
The new agreement which was signed by Mr. Avi Ben-Hur, Senior Deputy for International Relations, Civil Aviation Authority of Israel, and Mrs. Papadimitropoulou Fofi, director Airports Division, Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, will enable airlines from the two countries to operate up to 28 scheduled passenger flights a week on the route between Tel Aviv and Athens as well as 14 scheduled cargo flights a week.
 
Currently El Al Israel Airlines Ltd and the Greek carrier Aegean Airlines S.A. ( the largest Greek airline, by fleet size and the total number of passengers carried.) operate flights between Tel Aviv and Athens.
 
Aviation circles in Israel believe that the renewal of the aviation agreement between Israel and Greece may also benefit El Al which announced earlier this year that it interested to increase the frequency of flights between Tel Aviv and Athens during the summer. It is also understood that the two other Israeli airlines Israir and Arkia may also request rights to operate scheduled flights from Tel Aviv to one of the leading holiday destinations in Greece.
