Israir is about to buy two Airbus A-320 jets

If the deal goes through Israir would be the first Israeli carrier to bring Airbus planes to the Israeli market

Israir, Israel's second largest air carrier, is known to be closing a $250 million agreement to buy two Airbus A-320 jets and take an option on two more.

The company which has been flying internationally between Israel and major destinations in Mediterranean Basin, Europe, and New York operates a fleet of Boeing 767-300 and 757 aircraft and ATR'S. The carrier flies an average of 300,000 international passengers and over 400,000 domestic passengers annually.

According to senior sources in Israir, if the deal goes through Israir would be the first Israeli carrier to bring Airbus planes to the Israeli market meaning that Boeing's monopoly on supplying planes to Israel appears to be coming to an end . He added that Until the two new planes are delivered, Airbus will lease other planes to Israir.

Same source added that Israir had been searching for a long time for two jet planes to replace it's ageing Boeing 757s, which it uses for long haul international flights.
The company first tried to acquire Boeing 737-800s, but, apparently, was not successful.
