The discount Israir Airlines and Tourism Ltd. announced last week it would offer direct flights from Eilat to London in addition to its flights from Ben Gurion airport. The airline announced it will use its Airbus A320 aircraft on a weekly flight to London's Stanstead Airport in addition to the three weekly flights it already operates from Ben Gurion during the winter season.
Israir said it has enjoyed a 25% increase in passenger traffic to London of whom 35% are tourists on a holiday in Israel.
The airline operated as a charter firm until it received permission to run flights in direct competition with El Al.
