Israir Airlines, a subsidiary of IDB Tourism,an Israeli scheduled domestic, regional and charter carrier took delivery last week of its first ATR72-500 (reg 4X-ATH, serial 0931).
The aircraft is the first of two ordered,at a cost of US$325 million,in February 2011.
The new planes, each of which is being configured for 72 seats, will be used on Israir’s domestic routes to and from Eilat and on international flights to and from other areas in the Mediterranean Basin. The new craft will replace two ATRs that the company currently leases.
According to Israir General Manager Raz Gur-Arie: “The combination of the two new ATR craft and the two new Airbuses A320 the company purchased last summer, makes Israir the Israeli airline with the youngest fleet of planes.”
