Jordan reconsidering Israel aviation ties

A new round of aviation discussions was scheduled for late December 2008 but fell apart shortly after Operation “Cast Lead” was launched
 
Jordan's prime minister said last week his country may review its diplomatic ties with Israel in the wake of the offensive in Gaza. "Jordan will look into all options, including reconsidering relations with Israel," Nader Dahabi told legislators on Sunday. "There is no way we would remain silent when this threat affects the security of the entire region."
 
In line with Jordan's prime ministerdeclaration the Israeli Transportation Ministry confirms that Jordan had canceled a new aviation agreement with Israel because of the war in the offensive in Gaza.

It is understood that the Jordanians delegation informed the Israeli Transportation Ministry they would not be attending.
 
Israeli Transportation Ministry representative said it had been mutually hoped to open up the flight route between the two countries to competition.
 
Royal Jordanian Airlines had been set to negotiate increasing weekly flights between the two countries to 21, with an option of two more throughout the year, instead of the current 11 weekly flights during the winter months and 12 during the summer.
 
The bulk of the business on this route between Ben-Gurion International Airport and Amman are travelers continuing on to the Far East and the Gulf states.
