Lufthansa Cargo re-launch Tel Aviv-Munich Flights

Lufthansa relaunched flights between Tel Aviv and Munich on Sunday, saying there was ample demand despite the slowing economy.
 
Lufthansa said it will operate the flights four times a week (Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) with Airbus A340-300 high cargo capacity planes, adding to the two flights a day it already offers between Tel Aviv and Frankfurt.
 
During the inauguration ceremony of the new service held at Lufthansacargo office at Maman air cargo terminal, Ben Gurion Airport, Mr. Hasso Schmidt, Lufthansa regional director for Austria, East Europe, Turkey & Israel, noted that the new service will increase by 30% the volume of cargo capacity offered to the Israeli trading community. During an interview to Port2Port Schmidt noted that the decision to re-launch the service was partly due to requests put forward by cargo agents in Israel and Germany.
 
Schmidt also said that the market needs the extra cargo capacity, noting that the load factor between Israel and Germany in 2008 was 90%.
 
Schmidt also emphasized that the new service will enable Israeli importers and exporters to ship cargo to 80 world wide destinations including 20 destinations in the USA and the Far East.
