GHI, a wholly owned subsidiary of "Maman Cargo Terminal" and "Laufer Aviation", a company that provides ground handling services for airlines and passengers at Ben Gurion international Airport, signed a merger agreement last week.
 
The merged company, yet to be approved by the Antitrust Authority, will be named "Laufer Aviation GHI".
 
Laufer and Maman will each own half of the merged company. Following the agreement, Maman's director general Mr. Eli Dalal said that business conditions resulting from the civil unrest at the occupied territories, which over the last four years induced severe tourism crisis. The crisis made it impossible to operate independently and required consolidation of the activities of "GHI" and "Laufer Aviation.
 
Mr. Dalal added that foreign airlines had been putting pressure on ground services prices, while constantly demanding better quality services.
 
In a joint statement the companies said that the merged company will serve the following customers :Lufthansa, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Air France, and Alitalia.
