Israel Katz, Minister of Transport and Road Safety, approved night flights at Ben-Gurion International Airport for the next three to four years

The Israeli Transportation Ministry approved last week night flights at Ben-Gurion International Airport, the country's largest and busiest international airport in Israel, for the next three to four years. The decision to allow night flights was taken as the airport undergoes major renovations.

According to previous ministerial decision, Ben-Gurion was closed to night flights from 1:40 A.M. to 4:50 A.M. in the summer, with winter flights starting at only 5:50 A.M. - in order not to disturb those living near the airport.

The new decision which was necessary during runway upgrades starting soon, allows night flights in order to relieve congestion.
