55% drop compared to September 2010; only 9,000 Israelis entered Sinai through the Taba crossing at Eilat

Data released by the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) show that 1,864 Israelis flew to Cairo in September 2011, 55% drop compared to September 2010.

The Central Bureau of Statistics reported early this month that during September 2011, only 9,000 Israelis entered Sinai through the Taba crossing at Eilat, compared to 11,000 Israelis who entered Sinai in August.

The National Security Council Counter-Terrorism Bureau today reiterated its severe travel warning for Sinai. It advises Israelis against visiting the peninsula, and calls on all Israelis there now to leave at once and return to Israel.
