Three major airlines had already announced their full commitment to the new cargo terminal, and Some 100 local cargo agents have already registered to work with the new terminal
Following the official opening of Swissport Israel on June 15th, Mr. Amnon Avraham, Managing Director, Swissport Israel Ltd. announced that Swissport Cargo Terminal opened up a new era in the Israeli cargo ground handling sector.
Avraham noted that with the opening of the market in air cargo terminals at Ben Gurion Airport to competition, three major airlines had already announced their full commitment to the new cargo terminal.
He noted that the two weeks delay in opening the terminal was due to unforeseen problems in the terminal's IT structure which have since been overcome.
Avraham added that Swiss WorldCargo and C.A.L. Cargo Air Lines, Israel's second largest air carrier, have began their operation with the new terminal. CAL has decided that its export operations will be concentrated at the Swissport Terminal.
Korean Air Cargo announced it would begin using Swissport on July 1st.
Some 100 local cargo agents have already registered to work with the new terminal and some have opened offices in the new terminal building.
With its new building, Swissport is able to offer state of the art warehouse technology and smooth logistic services with a total annual potential cargo capacity in the range of 200,000 tons.
Avraham also noted that the terminal introduced a new web site: www.swissport.co.il
