Emergency units of firefighters and hazardous material went into action at Israel's Ben-Gurion International Airport last Tuesday after a package of toxic material was scattered while being loaded onto a Czech Airlines plane.
It said around seven people suffered unspecified injuries in the incident, and that there was no word yet on whether the cause was an accident or deliberate tampering.
Zeev Sarig, director of operations at Ben-Gurion, described the substance as a fertilizer ingredient bound for the Czech Republic.
Spokesman for Ben-Gurion International Airport said that "One of the porters noticed an acrid smell and activated the appropriate drill,". He added that "The spill was located immediately and we took no chances."
An Israeli police spokesman said that though containment efforts were still under way, elsewhere at Ben-Gurion work was continuing as usual.
