Turkish charter airlines cancel weekly Israel flights

Due to the deteriorating  diplomatic situation El Al has developed contingency plans for the possibility that Turkey may not permit Israel's national carrier to fly through its air space

Turkish charter airlines began last week to cut back weekly flights on routes to and from Israel in the face of the rapidly worsening relations between Ankara and Jerusalem. The decision is in line of Turkish government decision to sever ties with Israel.

Meanwhile it was made known that El Al Israel Airlines Ltd is monitoring the situation closely.

Report published last week noted that due to the deteriorating  diplomatic situation El Al has developed contingency plans for the possibility that Turkey may not permit Israel's national carrier to fly through its air space.

Such a development would require El Al to reconfigure a number of its routes, including those to the Far East and to the former Soviet Union.

It is clear that such a change would increase flying time to destinations such as China, Hong Kong, Thailand and some states of the CIS.
