UPS Inc. inaugurate its new 10,000-square meter facility at Ben Gurion Airport last week.
 
The new state of the art cargo facility is the largest logistics center of its kind in the Middle East. The new cargo center covering 21 dunam (5.25 acres) and built at a cost of NIS 55 million. The facility was built under a BOT (build-operate-transfer) contract under a 24-year lease, and will handle 6,000 packages a day.
 
It has two truck loading bays with 60 doors, each to speed up the handling of cargo.
Daniel J. Brutto, president of UPS International, who is responsible for all international package, freight forwarding and logistics businesses, as well as U.S. international package services arrived for the opening ceremony said that the new facility is adream coming true. After 14 years of hard work the Israeli business has grown up to become highly efficient and profitable operation.
