Media reports in Israel indicate that the Virgin group is holding negotiations with Israir for the formation of a strategic alliance venture between the two companies.
It is understood that within the framework of the cooperation the two airlines would exchange know-how and share advanced sales systems.
Israir, Israel's second largest air carrier, operates regular routes from Israel, and is looking for ways to expand its range of flights.
The company is flying internationally between Israel and major destinations in Mediterranean Basin and Europe. The company operates a fleet of Airbus 320, Boeing 767-300ER, and ATRs aircraft. In addition, the company offers special charter flights.
Official details have not been released but reports say that the two companies are discussing code-sharing arrangement as well as joint venture with Virgin Tourism.
