Wizz Air launched Budapest - Tel Aviv flights

The four weekly low fare flights began on December 6

Wizz Air, Hungary’s low-cost, low-fare airline, started last week operations of its new international low-fare route from Budapest to Tel Aviv.

The airline’s first flight to Israel took off on December 6th at 15:35 from Budapest with 175 passengers on board. The start of this new connection between Hungary and Israel brings for the first time low fares to a route previously only served by high fare airlines.

Wizz Air announced the launch of the flight in September 2012, and it has proven so popular with passengers within a short period of time that the originally planned frequency of three flights a week has already been increased to four a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) during the winter schedule season.

Wizz Air plans to commute daily between Budapest and Tel Aviv during the summer schedule season, from 15 June. Starting from just €37.99, the new Tel Aviv-Budapest flight costs just a fraction of the price charged by high-fare airlines. The flight will operate three times a week every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

On the inauguration ceremony in the presence of Ilan Mor, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Hungary, Jףzsef Vבradi, CEO of Wizz Air, noted: “We are delighted to offer low fares on the Budapest route to Tel Aviv for the very first time. Consumers in both Israel and Hungary have been subject to high fares on this route for many years and Wizz Air’s successful low cost operations will further stimulate business and tourism traffic between both countries. To accommodate the strong demand for our low fares we will be operating daily flights between Tel Aviv and Budapest during the summer peak period in 2013. We hope that today’s first flight to Tel Aviv will be followed by many more exciting routes offered to Hungarian consumers as Wizz Air continues to expand its route network.”
