Mr. Shraga Brosh, chairman of the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute, said that exports of communications equipment in 2004 will rise 16.5% to $2.53 billion. Brosh made the comment last week at the opening of the Telecom Israel 2004 exhibition, in Tel Aviv.
 
In a press release Mr. Brosh said that in January-September 2004 exports of communications equipment rose 23%, compared with the corresponding period in 2003, to $1.9 billion.
 
He emphasized that "Israel has become a great power in the communications equipment industry, and is a world-class technology leader". He predicted that the global IT market will grow in 2004 ,10% to $1.1 trillion, and grow 44% by the end of 2008 to $1.6 trillion.
 
A breakdown of export figures by world regions was as follows: North America - up 6% to $520 million, Asia - up 74% to $397 million; EU - up 29% to $483 million.
 
Some 40 foreign delegations attended the event among them official delegations from Austria, Italy, USA, Bulgaria , Guatemala, Germany ( Bavaria ) Ivory-Coast, Latvia, , Slovenia, Columbia, Croatia, Turkmenistan, Cameron, Azerbaijan, Rwanda, Canada, Serbia and Montenegro, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovakia.
 
In addition some 20 business delegation from : Austria, Australia, Italy. Ireland, USA, Bulgaria , Brazil, India, Hong Kong, Hungary, Viet Nam, Taiwan, Japan, Lithuania, Latvia, China, Spain, Czech Republic, France, Korea,Russia & Thailand.
